Emmanuelle Chriqui is a Canadian film and television actress. She is known for her roles in the films Snow Day, Wrong Turn, In the Mix, and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and on the shows Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Entourage, The Mentalist, and Superman & Lois.
Emmanuelle was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada, the daughter of Jewish emigrants from Morocco. Her mother was born in Casablanca and her father in Rabat, and Emmanuelle has relatives in Israel. Her family practiced Orthodox Judaism in the Sephardi tradition. Her mother was an aesthetician. Emmanuelle’s family moved to Toronto, Ontario, when she was a small child, settling in Markham. She became a U.S. citizen in 2017.
Her ancestors also include Italian Jews, Spanish Jews, and Portuguese Jews.
Emmanuelle’s maternal grandfather was named Jacob Benisty. Jacob was born in Ben Ahmed, Settat.
Emmanuelle’s maternal grandmother was Esther Elkaim (the daughter of Aaron Elkaim and Hnina Ruimy). Esther was born in Casablanca. Aaron was the son of Mimoun Elkaim and Estreilla Ruimy. Hnina was the daughter of Abrahm Ruimy and Aicha.

Jews can be Arab. She is Sephardic so she isn’t necessarily Arab though.
She’s not arab, in fact there are a few “real” arabs in North Africa. She is a Sephardic Jew from Moroccan. Look her grandfather’s name what BENisty.
“Benisty” is a Sephardi Jewish surname. “Ben” means “son” in Hebrew, as well.

Moroccans aren’t arabs. And jews aren’t originally from Morocco, but from europe (spain). We aren’t arab. Although we spoke judeo-arabic (which is written in hebrew) and we also spoke haketiya which is judeo spanish. We also speak french.
She isn’t arab. She is israelite/hebrew/jewish, all terms in the tribal sense or ethnic sense are the same. Jews are genetically the same whether from Morocco, Greece, or Poland.

We are all a little bit of this and a little bit of that. There were two groups of two feeted creatures the Homo Sapians and the Neanderthal (sorry, don’t know to spell in English) and these groups were located in central africa and the Middle East. After a while they spread all over the world. The Homo Sapians get mixed with the Neanderthal and then moved on to today known as Europe and Asia etc. ;)) just an example.

The African ancestry has been over-exaggerated.
Sefarad is hebrew for spain. Her ancestors (like mine) came from Spain, not originally from north africa, which is berber. The Israelites settled in Spain. So we are middle eastern. Ashkenazi Jews are mostly middle eastern as well. Genetic studies prove this.
