Zadie Smith is a British novelist, essayist, and short-story writer. She is known for her novel “White Teeth.”

She is the daughter of Yvonne Bailey and Harvey Smith. Her father was English, and white. Her mother is Jamaican, and black. Her mother moved to England in 1969. She is the sister of actor, comedian, rapper, screenwriter, songwriter, and voiceover artist Doc Brown, and rapper Luc Skyz. Zadie is married to Northern Irish novelist and poet Nick Laird, with whom she has two children.
