I’m not conceited anonymous. I’m just commenting on the previous comment. I am tired of hearing people say everyone wants to be like white people. that’s just plain crazy. I am a black women and very proud of it. I like all races of people and everyone should be proud of who ‘they’ are and not trying to be like someone else.

NOOOOO…it is Not safe to say that white is the standard of beauty. Not in my world. I don’t aspire to be like any white women. I LOVE being a black beautiful women who has an associates degree in accounting and currently going for her bachelors. White women aspire to be like Black women. They want tans to look like us. They wish they could do there hair like ours. They want our style and especially our men. I don’t know what other races ‘aspire’ to be like them but it is not the black race. We don’t want to look like them, act like them nor date their men. I have white women that hate on me at work because I look good. They are always looking to see what I’m wearing and very jealous I going to get my 2nd degree…..Go Figure!

I have one question, why is it that you people can “easily assume” that people like ashanti, aaliyah, nia long, keri hilson, ciara, will smith, jada pinkett etc.( From the comments that I have read so far) are “MIXED, THEY JUST HAVE TO BE” although they haven’t made any comments about being mixed. Yet it is hard for people to believe that lil kim, fabolous, neyo etc.could possibly be mixed? IS IT BECAUSE YOU BASE IT ON LOOKS?

And im not talking about people like barack obama, halle berry, alicia keys etc., because these ppl are mixed ( parents of a different race within their immediate family).

But why do you ppl consider the ppl i mentioned in the first paragraph mixed although they and their parents look black to me and the rest of the world( if these ppl weren’t famous and you saw their parents/ immediate family members on any given day, i know you would consider them black. Try Googling or Yahooing some of the ppl i mentioned in the first paragraph and look at pics of their parents)

And don’t give the whole diatribe on slavery because me and my ppl could argue the same thing, but we aren’t as hung up on color as minorities. Is it safe to say that white is the standard of beauty, what every other race aspires to be?
