Mike Starr was an American musician. He was the original bassist for rock band Alice in Chains, which he played with from 1987, the band’s formation, to 1993. He was also a member of the bands Sato, Gypsy Rose, Sun Red Sun, and Days Of The New. Jerry Cantrell, William DuVall, Mike Inez, Sean Kinney, and Layne Staley also are/have been members of Alice in Chains.

He was the son of Gayle and John Edward Starr, Jr.

Mike’s paternal grandfather was John Edward Starr (who possibly was the son of Michael Starr and Mary A. Mullen).

Mike’s paternal grandmother was Helen/Elina Marasco (the daughter of Dominick Marasco and Francis Antonia). Helen’s parents were Italian.

Mike’s maternal grandfather was Harold Robert Barlow (the son of Roy Grant Barlow and Edna Sophie Herberg). Roy was the son of Joseph Willard Barlow and Lodema Smith, and was of English and German descent. Edna was the daughter of Norwegian parents, Andrew J. Herberg and Sophie/Sophia Samson.

Mike’s maternal grandmother was Barbara Alice Boyd (the daughter of John Wallace Boyd and Mary Abigail Marshall). Barbara was born in Milltown, Charlotte, New Brunswick, Canada, and was of Irish descent. John was the son of John Boyd and Mary McKenna. Mike’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of Dual Marshall and Cecilia Joy.
