Sean Kinney is an American musician. He is the drummer for rock band Alice in Chains. Jerry Cantrell, William DuVall, Mike Inez, Layne Staley, and Mike Starr also are/have been members of the band. He was also a member of rock supergroup Spys4Darwin, with Inez.

He is the son of Shirlee, a city official, and Frank Kinney, a police officer. His father was from Seattle, Washington. His mother was from Oklahoma City.

Sean’s maternal grandfather’s surname was De Spain.
