Samuel West is an English actor and director. He is the son of actors Timothy West (Timothy Lancaster West) and Prunella Scales (born Prunella Margaret Rumney Illingworth).

Samuel’s paternal grandfather was Lockwood West (an actor, born Harry Lockwood West, to Henry Cope West and Mildred Hartley). Henry was the son of Henry Hartley West and Eliza Hubbard Hammill. Mildred was the daughter of Charles Mandall Hartley and Mary Annie Taylor.

Samuel’s paternal grandmother was Eileen Olive Carleton-Crowe (the daughter of Christopher William Carlton-Crowe and Clara Marie). Christopher was born in Ireland.

Samuel’s maternal grandfather was John Richardson Illingworth (the son of Charles Rumney Illingworth and Jessie Richardson). Charles was the son of John Thomas Illingworth and Catherine Rumney. Jessie was the daughter of Sarah Walker.

Samuel’s maternal grandmother was Catherine Scales (the daughter of Walter Henry Scales and Edith Emily). Walter was the son of Henry Christian Scales and Emma Topham. Samuel’s great-great-grandfather Henry Scales was the son of The Rev. Thomas Scales, a leading abolitionist, and of Christiana Simpson.
