Sophia Anne Caruso is an American actress and singer. Known mostly for her stage roles, particularly Beetlejuice, she has also appeared in the films Jack of the Red Hearts and The School for Good and Evil, and on the television special The Sound of Music Live!

She is the daughter of Deena Caruso, who owned clothing and jewelry stores, and Steve Caruso, a “club pro” golf professional. Her family moved to New York in 2012 for her acting career.

Sophia’s paternal grandfather was Robert Edward Caruso (the son of Samuel Robert Caruso and Elfrieda Wilma Slotta). Robert was born in Washington. Samuel was an Italian emigrant, from Cosenza, Calabria, and was the son of John Caruso and Anna Gerace. Elfrieda was the daughter of German emigrants, August Julius Slotta, from Schlesien, and Catherine Caroline Schaub, from Brandenburg.

Sophia’s paternal grandmother was Sharon Ann Morgan (the daughter of Michael Joseph Morgan, Jr. and Alice Eugenia Bowers). Sharon was born in Tennessee, with deep roots in the U.S. Michael was the son of Michael Joseph Morgan and Lena Olie Shelton. Alice was the daughter of Arthur Ray Bowers and Mamye Weil, whose parents were German.

Sophia’s maternal grandfather was Roy Dean Moe (the son of Robert Mahlon Moe and Edna Mae Cattrill). Roy was born in Wyoming. Robert was born in Fort Benton, Montana, the son of Edward Haakow Moe, whose parents were Norwegian; and of Mary Isabel Williams, who was of one half German, one quarter Irish, and one quarter English, descent. Edna was the daughter of Elijah Cattrill and Laura Etta Edwards, who had deep roots in the U.S.

Sophia’s maternal grandmother is Millicent “Millie” Hegsted (the daughter of Ralph Borglum Hegsted and Henrietta Yvonne Hekman). Ralph was born in Salem, Idaho, the son of Victor Charles Hegsted/Høgsted, who was a Danish emigrant, from Copenhagen, and of Hannah Grover, whose father had deep roots in the U.S., and whose maternal grandparents were German emigrants, from Sachsen-Meiningen, Thüringen. Henrietta was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Dutch emigrants, from Groningen, Henry Hekman, from Winschoten, and Harmanna Luitjes “Minnie” Reitsma, from Leens.
