Please, add the acute accent for her given name Bárbara.

She does NOT look Japanese at all! Barbara is one of those great examples that you don’t look it even if you’re 1/4 of it. (The opposite effect can happen like the Kate Plus 8 Kids who are 1/4 asian and still look asian)

The fact that she resembles White-Americans Mega Fox and Alyssa miller and non-asian Latin-Americans Blanca Soto & Marimar Vega further proves that she don’t look japanese/asian at all…. I rest my case

Princess June 14, 2014 at 1:52 am

So even with all those races in her, she still looks White. Strange….

BillRay January 22, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Not a bad looking woman.

Sky January 7, 2014 at 10:47 am

Wow, she is so pretty.

AnonymousPerson December 23, 2013 at 2:15 am

She looks exotic.

guurl December 23, 2013 at 1:01 am

I can see the Lebanese in her

daniel December 22, 2013 at 6:51 pm

Hey why you call Bollycurry ??? its not Fun
She is a Beautiful Lady no doubt .

Gaby December 1, 2013 at 10:20 am

Her ethnicity is not mexican. She lives in Mexico but she did not born there and none of her parents were mexican so this is wrong. She was born in Uruguay and is of spanish-basque,japanese and lebanese descent.

Bekah August 26, 2014 at 5:15 pm

Yes she is?? It clearly says that her mother is mexican. She was born Barbara Mori Ochoa, which is a very common Mexican last name. So she does have Mexican in her. She looks white because many northern Mexicans are because of the mixing between the mestizos and white Spaniards that came from Spain. Please educate yourself on this issue.

marjanel October 5, 2015 at 7:16 pm

I have seen all the biographies and interviews and any said that her mother is mexican.Ochoa is a Spanish last name and can be found in Uruguay also.

daitoushoutou July 26, 2013 at 12:47 pm

This is what Bárbara Mori said in a Monday, May 10, 2010 interview at India-Forums, “‘I’m not a perfect person’ – Barbara Mori
Beautiful Barbara Mori on an unhurried chat with Bollycurry…”

“I was born in Uruguay and grew up in Mexico. I have an Asian root too as my paternal grandfather is Japanese. I have worked in 10 soap operas and 6 movies. I started working when I was fourteen as a waitress. I started modeling when I was seventeen. Later soap operas happened and films followed.”

Her having one of her grandparents being Japanese makes Bárbara Mori one quarter Japanese.

Her father Yuyi (Spanish spelling for the Japanese given names Yuji and Yūji/Yuuji, since j’s are pronounced like h’s in Spanish and y’s can be pronounced like j’s in Spanish) Mori, her younger brother Kintaró (Spanish spelling for the Japanese given name Kintarō/Kintarou) Mori, and her older sister Kenya (Kenya, or Ken’ya, can be a Japanese given name) Mori have Japanese first names.

aaa July 1, 2013 at 11:43 am

The japanese and middle eastern are obvious in her eyes, nose, hair, body…

aaa June 29, 2013 at 7:59 pm

she doesn’t look just eurasian(biracial),the arab and mestizo are visible in her,she looks multiracial.

andrew June 30, 2013 at 8:06 am

just your opinion, she doesnt look Eurasian nor “Arab” or Mestizo, if her 1/4 Japanese wasnt revealed I wouldn’t have guessed it. She looks quite European as she is for the most part

luluz September 20, 2013 at 9:58 pm

yeah i wouldnt have guesses that eitheir she looks whitish, but probably because she is mostly white

andrew January 20, 2013 at 8:34 pm

the surname Mori is Italian. not a Spanish or Basque name. Being from Uruguay, no big deal. Italians are about half of the whole population of this small country

MinaMori February 22, 2013 at 3:16 pm

Sorry to burst your bubble, sir, but in her context, Mori (森) is a Japanese surname, which means “Forest” in English. Where does it say anywhere that she’s Italian?

andrew February 26, 2013 at 6:44 pm

Mori is a common Italian surname, how can be Japanese? It means “brunette”. Uruguay is like Argentina, a Spanish speaking country where actually more than 50% of population has Italian roots

LOL May 3, 2013 at 10:50 pm

uh it can be Japanese because it’s also Japanese? what the hell kind of a question is that?

andrew May 4, 2013 at 3:05 pm

I just discovered Mori can be Japanese too.
Barbara Mori is 1/4 Japanese at most btw

aaa July 6, 2013 at 7:28 pm

Mori is a japanese surname.Barbara looks part japanese and a multiracial woman. However she can pass for a exotic italian, she looks a bit like the ex-girlfriend of Mario Balotelli,Raffaela Fico.

Lotus January 9, 2013 at 11:21 pm

i thought this site only featured famous people? she’s a nobody

daitoushoutou July 26, 2013 at 7:44 pm

Well, Bárbara Mori is famous in Mexico and much of Latin America for the 2004 Mexican telenovela (Latin television soap opera) series “Rubí” and the 2005 Mexican movie “La mujer de mi hermano” (“My Brother’s Wife”; in India, it is known as “A Beautiful Wife” in English and “Spanish Beauty” in Hindi), and in India for starring with Indian actor Hrithik Roshan in the much publicized 2010 Bollywood film “Kites.”

Add the populations of Latin America and India together, and one gets well over a billion people.

Mori has not crossed over into doing Hollywood films – like Mexican-born, naturalized American citizen Salma Hayek has – so she is not really familiar to the general American public.

davidcathers January 1, 2013 at 9:43 pm

So she’s like a quarter Japanese??

Affellay July 1, 2013 at 11:44 am

well, thats what it says

daitoushoutou July 27, 2013 at 12:33 am

As I have documented here on EthniCelebs and elsewhere – and there are many sources in English and in Spanish which say so – Bárbara Mori is part (one quarter) Japanese.

You can google images of Bárbara Mori, her older sister Kenya Mori, and younger brother Kintaró Mori:

me December 9, 2012 at 3:26 pm

she’s pretty but her eyebrows are weird

jarocho November 16, 2012 at 5:59 am

I love that woman, the most beautiful woman alive. She is also very proud of her mexican roots and on interviews she never mentions her Uruguayan side.

marjanel April 14, 2018 at 8:22 pm

She has not mexican roots, she has mexican nationality and live sthere Since she is 12 years old, any of their Ancestors is mexican

Katz October 18, 2012 at 7:49 am

If it is known that her Mexican side consists of Spanish-Basque and Lebanese descent, shouldn’t that be listed under her race or ethnicity? Since Mexican isn’t a race, and and not really a specific ethnicity either. Mexicans can have any heritage, it’s a nationality.

me October 20, 2012 at 8:14 am

I would say the same.

me October 20, 2012 at 8:17 am
smiley December 30, 2012 at 12:01 pm

It says her Japanese ancestry comes from her paternal grandfather, meaning she is 1/4th Japanese. I think what the post is trying to say is that her mom is Mexican and her father is a Uruguayan of 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 Lebanese/Basque descent. Either way Basque and Lebanese should still be included.

smiley January 4, 2013 at 1:10 pm

Ethnic, can we get verification on the discussion above.
Does the Lebanese and Basque come from her dad’s non-Japanese side or her mother’s side?

ethnic January 4, 2013 at 5:52 pm

Hi Follers and Smiley
As far as the linked article states, she has those 4 heritages, I have yet to find a source that specifies which parent Lebanese and Basque come from.

marjanel April 14, 2018 at 9:18 pm

And where do You find that she has a mexican mom?She has never said that and never mention it when she is talking about México.Some.mexicans said that her mother is mexican, butIf her mother was mexican, she could have obtained mexican nationality earlier and not when she was 24, also she moved to México with her father not her “mexican” mother.

marjanel April 14, 2018 at 9:14 pm

Bárbara never has states about having mexican roots. She talked that she moved ther because father’s job.She never have talked about having mexican ancestry People who said that she is mexican talked about her mother being, interesting, Bárbara moved to México with his father and not her “mexican” mother

Hope Moretti October 8, 2012 at 11:20 pm

Her sister is older than her and she was born in Mexico.
On an interview she said that her mother traveled to Uruguay and found the love of her life. (hahahahahahaha)

marjanel April 14, 2018 at 9:11 pm

Bárbara morí is the oldest sister. Her sister was born in Uruguay not in Mexico.A nd she has never said that her mother mexican.

Jocelyn September 30, 2012 at 1:30 am

She is very beautiful! When I was younger about 2003(?), coming from a very proud traditional Mexican family, I always watched Rubi. The story is very dramatic and a lot of irony.
