Wanda Vázquez Garced is a Puerto Rican lawyer and politician. She served as Governor of Puerto Rico, from August 7, 2019 to January 2, 2021. She was previously the Secretary of Justice of Puerto Rico, from January 2, 2017 to August 7, 2019. She is a member of the New Progressive Party; she was also a Democrat until 2019, then switching to the Republican Party.

She is the daughter of Luis Alberto Vázquez and María “Mary” Garced Resto. Wanda is married to judge Jorge Luis Díaz Reverón, with whom she has two children.

Wanda’s maternal grandfather was Wenceslao Garced Garced (the son of Sebastián Garced Luna and Teresa Garced Díaz). Wenceslao was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Sebastián was the son of Narciso Garced y Rivera and Celestina Luna Rivera. Teresa was the daughter of Higinio Garced and Ceferina Díaz López.

Wanda’s maternal grandmother was Felipa Resto Rodríguez (the daughter of José Resto Ramos and María Rodríguez Rivera). Felipa was born in Comerío, Puerto Rico. José was the son of Domingo Resto y Pagán and Rosalía Ramos y López. Wanda’s great-grandmother María was the daughter of Domingo Rodríguez y Reyes and Evangelista Rivera y Rivera.

Wanda’s matrilineal line can be traced back to her third great-grandmother, Lorenza Rivera y Rivera, of Cidra, Puerto Rico.
