I wish Americans had more of a Brazilian mentality, they don’t look at race, they just all consider themselves Brazilian. At the end of the day, whether you’re black, white, Asian, black-Hispanic, white-Hispanic, if you’re American, you carry the American image with you around the world, regardless of your race.

In the country i live in (France but i’m definitly not French) we don’t look at skin color, religion or ethnicity because even though we might be of a different race we’re still in the human race :)

your realy wierd. like who cares. kbye

I like France, however there are issues there of by a race and religious nature. I didn’t have a problem when I visited and the locals knew I was not African. However, there are issues in France with Africans OK.

What I will say I’ve noticed is while travelling abroad, the people of other countries had a better grasp of my background than the people of my own country. I guess American’s should get a grip and pay attention in school. If that doesn’t do the trick get off this site and try using google. When people migrate, they mix OK, it is that simple. This history of America has been one of oppression. One of the outcomes is race mixing OK. Humans are resilient.

      @rome

They don’t look at race, are you kidding.Anytime you have 136 different shades before you will say your black, somethings wrong. If they didn’t look at color, there would be no need for a description such a( Pardo ).If race truly didn’t matter, then someone calling black down there shouldn’t matter, however it does seem to matter

I find it interesting that most white Latin Americans are wealthy, while many of the mestizos and mulattos are poor and of working class. This is especially prominent in Mexico and Brazil. You may say this has nothing to do with race . . . but I think it does. So, cut the bull.

        • Amber Berg says:

          That is correct @ Anonymous!

        • marjanel says:

Or that most Mexicans that go to USA are indomestizos. In Latín America, people are not that obsessed in labeling people with races like USA or using things like Italoamerican, Mexican-American.But that doesn’t means that Blacks and indigenous don’t tend to be poorer for historical reasons.

(.But that doesn’t means that Blacks and indigenous don’t tend to be poorer for historical reasons.)

            historical reasons alright
            1. Yes your grandfather paid for this land and made it into something, but sense he was a ex-slave he wasn’t entitled to own land (it’s a new law we made up) wink wink

2.Yes you paid for this land, but you’re black and therefore a foreigner. Yes we’re foreigner to, but that doesn’t matter.

            3. Yes during a race riot, we burned down your property . However we have pass a new ordinance stating you can’t rebuild on scorched land

            4. Ok we have just redline your entire area. So if you wish to work for low wages, you have to sell your land “Cheap” to us and move to the city

            5. You’re in luck, we’re going paid less than the white people for the same job. Also don’t worry, we will not promote you. Oh btw, don’t act to smart, you know we don’t like that

and other little stuff like that

As for the Indians, how dare they be on the land , before the white man got here. Then they don’t want to give it up, what nerve

If Brazilians don’t look at race than why is it that the white brazilians have the wealth and extreme poverty strikes the afro brazilian community? On Brazilian TV & novelas, you will almost never see a black face…acting, hosting, or anchoring. How could this be when Brazil has the 2nd largest black community in the world after Nigeria? Only in a race obsessed society. America and Brazil are both race obsessed countries, but America elected a black president and the truth is, the average black american has more opportunities and a greater chance at success than the average black brazilian.

Brazil and Latín Americans are not that obsessed with labeling people with races like USA.Americans are more obsessed with that. But that doesn’t mean that there is not Any racist or that because historical reasons Afri-brazilians are poorer than whites, in the same way that happens in USA.

Do you believe in one drop rule? any one has african ancestry is black ?? brazil doesn’t have the second black community after Nigeria, Afro-brazilians are very minority in brazil, except if you consider this woman afro-brazilian also

Brazilians are also racist as well!

You dont live in america you wouldnt know !

    • levangelista36 says:

Brazil does have issues with racism and colorism, though. It is a myth that they do not. I do wish Americans could just identify as Americans.

    • midori29 says:

@Rome ALL Brazilians look at race this is why Brazil is the most racist place on earth 5 times worse than America. Black Brazilians live in Faveleas, they dance in Carnivals, they are not educated, and are poor and the black Brazilians who call themselves mullatos, pardos, and morenos have NOTHING but dancing and carnivals. They are just different shades of black. While the white people have all the wealth and the fun and education. Brazil is Germany in the 40’s a very racist place. SAD
