Silvio Santos was a Brazilian television show host, entrepreneur, and billionaire. He was the host of Programa Silvio Santos from 1963 to 2024, his death; it was the longest-running Brazilian television program. He owned holdings that included television network SBT.

Silvio was born in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, the son of Rebeca Caro/Karo, who was from Smyrna, Ottoman Empire, now İzmir, Turkey, and Alberto/Albert Abravanel, who was from Thessaloniki, Greece. His parents were Sephardi Jews. He was married to Maria Aparecida Vieira, until her death, and then to Íris Pássaro, until his death. He had two children with Maria; and four children, including television presenters Patricia Abravanel, who is also a businessperson and has hosted Programa Silvio Santos, and Rebecca Abravanel, with Íris. Patricia is married to politician Fábio Faria, and Rebecca is married to professional footballer Alexandre Pato. His grandson is actor, voice actor, and singer Tiago Abravanel.

Silvio’s paternal grandfather was Abraham Abravanel (the son of Abraham Abravanel and Sarah Rachel). Silvio’s grandfather Abraham was born in Thessaloniki.

Silvio’s paternal grandmother was named Doudon Bendavid/Ben David. Doudon was born on Crete.
