Birth Name: Brian Edward Cox

Brian Cox is an English physicist and musician. He is a professor of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester. He is known as a presenter in the science programs Wonders of… series.
Brian was born in Oldham, Lancashire, to parents who worked at a bank. He was a keyboard player in the bands D:ream and Dare. Brian is married to American science presenter Gia Milinovich, with whom he has a son.
Brian’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Holden.
Its so hilarius when people seen brits like Brian, Russell Brand, Jenna Coleman, Tom Holland, Simon Bird and Olivia Cooke and say ”oh they dont look british they look like this and that bla bla bla” when in reality brown hair and brown eyes are literally the most common features all around the british isles. Red hair, blonde hair, blue and green eyes are frequent in specific places, also i could bet there are more olive skinned people (like Jenna and Russell) in England than pale, pasty white like Sophie Turner.
This is not really about colouring. Cox looks a bit weird with his facial features.
Actually I’d say at least half or more of Brits are blue-eyed though they tend to have either brunette or reddish hair, rather than blond like Germanic and also Slavic people. And no way “olive skin” prevails.
Im pretty positive most brits, especially southern english and welsh, are brunette and brown-eyed, and when i say brown, i don’t mean dark brown of course, i should have said it better, i mean light brown, a lot of times green-ish, a bit hazel. And olive skin has a alot of shades to it, in a more broad definition is basically a type of fair skin that does not burn under the sun and it’s easier to tan. Im not saying british people are naturally of some kind of “brown-ish” complexion, cuz that would be insane, Russell Brand, Simon Bird, and Jenna Coleman are pretty much the darkest that an ethnic brit can get(they can naturally tan and get that “bronze” colour, but they surely can get quite pale too). Anything beyond that is non-white mix for sure.
Blue eyes, blonde hair, red hair, and light green eyes are only really prevalent in some northern english places, the scottish highlands, and far east Ireland. People can have this perception that most brits are blue eyed, blonde and red haired because british media always avoided casting the “dark” majority in major roles on movies and TV Shows for some germanistic sense of “beauty” that used to dominate northwestern european and north american society.
*far west Ireland
‘germanistic sense of “beauty”.
What the hell are you talking about…England is a small densely populated place, there is really no dramatic difference from one place to another about people look.
Yes, there is most definitely quite a cline in the Britis Isles, mostly because of who settled where.

South, South-West England & Wales are where “dark” features predominate. The rest of England is kind of a mix. Scots are slightly lightr on average, and Ireland is the lightest of all.
Most native British are light eyed (about 3/4), blue eyes more like half.

And people don’t think average British are blonde/red haired, that’s nonsense, there’s never been a time when British media mostly cast blondes. There’s also practically no countries in Europe where true blondes are the majority, besides perhaps Scandinavia/Finland.
Irish are paler and lighter eyed than English, but darker haired. English are between Irish and South Dutch/Flemish in most respects of pigmentation (also genetically).
you’ve clearly never been to the uk lol super funny comments
It’s so hilarious that you say these things when you’ve never seen english in your life
his mother’s surname is “Holden”.
I am really surprised Brian Cox only has English ancestry in his ethnic background. When watching his new TV show ‘The Planets’ I distinctly thought that he had an east Asian look about himself, especially around the eye area and with his hair being so dark. Although, his hair has started to grey somewhat in recent years, but that’s natural with age. If he was not a public figure and I saw him on the street I would assume he was possibly Eurasian, or at least had partial east Asian ancestry somewhere in his background. I am very surprised to see he is only of English descent. I guess it demonstrates how varied the British Isles phenotype can be.
Also Ethni, could you research the background of Keeley Hawes. She is a very popular English actress in the U.K and I have always been curious about her background. To me, in appearance Keeley Hawes looks very similar to Keira Knightley, especially around the eye area. Please could you delve in to her background a bit more if possible. I would be really curious to see what you could find. I believe Keeley Hawes, like Keira Knightley and also Daisy Ridley, has a distinctive British Isles look, but who knows I could be wrong. Thank-you.
He may have Irish ancestry.
Cox is an anglicization of a few Irish surnames, and Lancashire is an Irish hotbed too due to immigration. Anyhow he is nothing besides British Isles IMO.
So handsome……..
