Jeff Bridges is an American actor, singer, and producer. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Crazy Heart (2009). His roles also include the films The Last Picture Show, Fat City, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, King Kong (1976), Cutter’s Way, Tron, and its sequel Tron: Legacy; Against All Odds…, Starman, Jagged Edge, The Morning After, Nadine, The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Fisher King, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Big Lebowski, Arlington Road, The Contender, Seabiscuit, Iron Man, A Dog Year, True Grit (2010), Hell or High Water, and Bad Times at the El Royale, and the series Sea Hunt and The Old Man.

He is the son of actors Lloyd Bridges (Lloyd Vernet Bridges, Jr.) and Dorothy Bridges (born Dorothy Dean Simpson). His brother is actor Beau Bridges (Lloyd Vernet Bridges III), and his nephew is actor Jordan Bridges. He is married to Susan Geston, with whom he has three children.

His father was from a family that had long lived in the United States, with partly deep roots in Vermont.

Jeff’s paternal grandfather was Lloyd Vernet Bridges (the son of John Hewston Bridges and Minnie Ellen Hortense Tibbetts/Tibbits). Lloyd was born in Kansas. John was born in Colorado or Arkansas, to parents from North Carolina, James Graham Bridges and Dorothy Parthena Jane Cabe. Minnie was born in Minnesota, the daughter of Sidney/Sydney Tibbetts/Tibbits, who was from Vermont, and of Eleanor/Mary Ellen Titus, who was born in Ontario, Canada.

Jeff’s paternal grandmother was Harriet Evelyn “Hattie” Brown (the daughter of Prairie Frank Brown and Mary/Maria/Marie Elizabeth Barnhill). Harriet was born in Kansas. Prairie was the son of parents from Vermont, Emerson Elisha Brown and Gratia Allbee/Albee. Mary/Maria Elizabeth was the daughter of John David Barnhill and Lydia Ann Case.

Jeff’s maternal grandfather was Frederick Walter Simpson (the son of Henry Simpson and Jane Anne/Ann Jago). Frederick was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Henry was the son of William Henry Simpson and Sarah Ann Knowles. Jane was the daughter of William Jago and Susan Rutter/Rowter. The name Jago is Cornish.

Jeff’s maternal grandmother was Louise Myles (the daughter of Frederick William Myles and Eliza R. Gunter/Gunten/VanGunten). Louise was born in New Jersey. Frederick was born in Dublin, Ireland. Eliza was born in New Jersey, the daughter of Jacob Louis Gunten, who was Swiss-born, of Swiss-German descent, and of Philopene/Philipina Mantz, who was American-born, of German descent.

    I’d say he has Cornish ancestry since the Surname Jago in England, is a Cornish surname meaning “James” or “Jacob”. So I’d say add Cornish.
