Morgan Spurlock was an American documentary filmmaker, writer, and television producer. He directed the documentary films Super Size Me, Where in the World Is Osama bin Laden? (2008), a segment of Freakonomics; POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope, Mansome, One Direction: This Is Us, Rats (2016), and Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! He appeared in most of his documentaries, wrote Super Size Me, and co-wrote the rest but for the One Direction film. On televsion, he created and starred on I Bet You Will and 30 Days, presented and co-wrote Morgan Spurlock’s New Britannia, directed and featured on A Day in the Life and Morgan Spurlock Inside Man, and co-created Losing It with John Stamos. He co-founded short-film content marketing company Cinelan.

Morgan was the son of Phyllis and Ben Spurlock. He was raised Methodist. He had a son with his former wife Alex Jamieson; and a son with his former wife Sara Bernstein.

Morgan’s paternal grandfather was Walter Froud Spurlock (the son of Kenner Thomas Spurlock and Docia B. Miller). Walter was born in West Virginia. Kenner was the son of Albert “Bunk” Spurlock and Rebecca Hager. Docia was the daughter of Burwell Miller and Lucinda Stowers.

Morgan’s paternal grandmother was Lorraine Edna Porter (the daughter of Robert Harrison Porter and Nannie M. Johnson). Lorraine was born in West Virginia. Robert was the son of James David Porter and Christena Louisa Hoback. Nannie was the daughter of James Avis Johnson and Emily Short.

Morgan’s maternal grandfather was Burl H. Valentine (the son of Harley Lee Valentine and Dora Hortense Meadows). Burl was born in Roane, West Virginia. Harley was the son of William Franklin Valentine and Phoebe Ann Epling. Dora was the daughter of Harrison Sheridan Meadows and Mary Melinda “Mollie” Waggoner.

Morgan’s maternal grandmother was Kathleen Opal Shimp (the daughter of Everett O. Shimp and Beulah Marshall). Kathleen was born in West Virginia. Everett was the son of Simon Shimp and Vina A.
