Bob Vila is an American television host and author. He was the host of the home improvement shows This Old House, from 1979 to 1989, and Home Again with Bob Vila/Bob Vila’s Home Again, from 1990 to 2005, then renamed to Bob Vila, from 2005 to 2007.

Bob is the son of Esperanza Robles and Roberto Vila, who were from Havana, Cuba. He grew up mostly in Miami, Florida, and also lived in Havana as a child. He is married to philanthropist and business professor Diana Barrett, who was born in Mexico. The couple has three children.

Bob’s paternal grandfather was named José Vila.

Bob’s paternal grandmother was named Teresa de Uz.
