To Salvatore Sardo:all countries (and the people) colonized by Spain are Hispanic (or Latino),in other words Hispanic (or Latino) is a culture,Not a race.A Hispanic can be of any race, can be white (Sofia Vergara),can be black (Zoe Saldaña),can be native (Evo Morales),can be Asian (Alberto Fujimore) etc

  2. Yamila says:

She is not latin, she is mostly USA american and european, that’s it.

  3. iris18 says:

Alexis’ original nationality is latin american and so is her culture (being raised by hispanics) but her ethnicity is totaly european. So she can call herself a white latin american. just like a black person in the U.S.A. would call him self a black american which i think is more appropiate than afro american. I’ve never heard of white americans calling themselves euro americans…

    • Salvatore Sardo says:

Her father is Argentine but from Danish ancestry. Danish Argentine have their community in Argentina and they still practice their European traditions and are very different from any other Latin American country.
To claim that she is Latina is absurd because she is not. She is American from Texas and has Danish, French and German heritage.

I am Italian born in Sardinia and I work in Buenos Aires Argentina for few years and know their culture. Specially the aristocratic people from Buenos Aires, they are pretty much Europeans with 100% European ancestry. they travel to Europe, Study in Europe and even still have their social clubs and read their news papers in Italian, English and other European Languages. For other Latino Americans countries who are Mestizo is unheard. She is White and she is American.

      • Do says:

You are wrong prove it again

      • Luis Diaz says:

Salvatore,I left a couple of comments for you,I hope you read them.
Let me add something: Leo Messi’s nationality is Argentinian, his race is white, his ethnicity is Hispanic and his origin is Italian.

      • Papa Legba says:

Latin America is diverse culturally and ethnically! I’m a black Cuban and many of my cultural practises are African, so does that not make me Latin American? Seriously so you have to be brown/mestizo to be Latino? Salvatore don’t be ignorant. You don’t know how her father is I know German Argentines and they don’t know shit about Germany, don’t assume stuff. Obviously Argentina is culturally mostly European so they’re different than say Mexico which has Amerindian and European culture mixed together! Latin America is not homogenous in culture, race, ethincity! Read a book before you comment on us.

She’s Latin American, end of story.

EUROPEAN TRADITIONS?!?!?! WHAT IS SPANISH BUT EUROPEAN?!?!?!?

  4. Marc says:

anybody knows some Danes with surname Bledel except her father?
in fact it’s a French surname

    • Jimenez says:

There are no Danes with that surname. But that doesn’t mean that her grandparent’s didn’t come from Denmark, since they could have origin from elsewhere in Europe. The spelling of the name could be due to a transliteration of the original surname, though. She says in interviews that they were Danish, so who are we to question that? I’m sure that there are plenty Danish people with surnames and/or origin from other parts of Europe.

      • Marc says:

i think you also, would in doubt in her Danish heritage if she has name like Maria Suarez or Natasha Ivanova

        • Jimenez says:

Yes, I can understand that, since it simply cannot be a Danish surname, unless the original spelling was different.

I have read about Danish Immigrants to Argentina, who changed their name from Blædel to Bledel, for practical reasons, so it’s possible that the original surname was Blædel. The descendants of those people live in Buenos Aires, I believe. However, they immigrated more than hundred years ago.

    • Clem says:

Her family came from Denmark to Argentina around 1900… they changed their name from Blædel to Bledel…

  5. Myspace Celebrity says:

Why are people acting like someone can’t be a white hispanic? Come on now…

    • iris18 says:

when people start understanding that hispanic is NOT an ethnicity but a nationality or maybe not because it’s a continent.

Just like we say white americans…but the true americans are the natives!

      • Serpent says:

According to this site and its racist agenda, it’s the bad thing to be white and you should be ashamed for being that race.

      • Jimenez says:

It’s not even a Nationality. It just means that the person has origin in Spain (or rather, the Iberian peninsula), or Hispanic America – the parts of the Americas which was Spanish or Portuguese colonies. It’s actually a bit odd that such an ancient Latin word is being used nowadays. A nationality would be something like “Argentine” or “Mexican”, or “(US)American”.

      • what_ever says:

Well the true Hispanics are whites. Mestizos are not the true Hispanics sorry to break it to you.
