Erik Satie was a French composer and pianist.

His father, Jules Alfred Satie, was French, and a shipping broker. His mother, Jane Leslie (Anton), was born in London, England, to Scottish parents, from Monymusk, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was partly raised in Paris.

Erik’s paternal grandfather was Jules André Satie (the son of François Jacques Amable Satie and Flore Adélaïde Zoé Maria). Jules was born in Le Havre, Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France. Jacques was the son of Pierre François Satie and Marie Anne Thérèse Lehericher/Le Herichier. Flore was the daughter of Jean Antoine Philippe Maria and Marie Legros.

Erik’s paternal grandmother was Eulalie Françoise Sophie Fortin (the daughter of Louis Alexis Fortin and Marie Sophie Laveuve). Eulalie was born in Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. Louis was the son of François Fortin and Adrianne Beignier. Marie was the daughter of Jean François Laveuve and Marie Barbe Stock, whose father was likely of German descent.

Erik’s maternal grandfather was named George Anton. George was born in Banffshire, Scotland.

Erik’s maternal grandmother was Elsie/Elspet Davidson (the daughter of Robert Davidson and Jane Leslie). Eslpet was born in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
