Carrie Underwood is an American country music singer, songwriter, and actress. She won the fourth season of the show American Idol (in 2005). See other American Idol winners here.
Carrie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and was raised in Checotah, Oklahoma.
Carrie is married to Canadian-born professional ice hockey player Mike Fisher, with whom she has two children. She is an Evangelical Christian.
Carrie has English, as well as some Scottish, Irish, and German, ancestry. There are internet claims that she has some degree of Muscogee Creek (Native American) heritage. It is not clear if this Native American ancestry has been verified/documented. In a 2013 interview, Carrie herself seemed to say that she does not have Native American ancestry.
Asked about having Scottish ancestry, she said:
That’s on my Wikipedia and I don’t know why. Someone keeps putting it up there. According to that page I’m also a member of a Native American tribe… We keep changing it and they keep changing it back: they’re adamant I’m Scottish… I mean, I could be. My dad recently told me that my great-great-grandfather was born in Ireland.
Carrie’s paternal grandfather was Bryan Gladys Underwood (the son of Harmon H. Underwood and Myrtle Higgins). Bryan was born in Oklahoma. Harmon was the son of James Gideon Underwood and Eliza Jane Allen. Myrtle was the daughter of William W. Higgins and Elizabeth Corbett.
Carrie’s paternal grandmother was Nell Ella Green (the daughter of William Henry Green and Susan Estelle Spicer). Nell was born in Oklahoma. Susan was the daughter of Louis Spicer and Palmyra McCullar.
Carrie’s maternal grandfather was William Carl Shatswell (the son of Lester B. Shatswell and Rosie E. Needham). William was born in Oklahoma. Lester was the son of George Riley Shatswell and Sarah Emeline/Emmaline Pierce. Rosie was the daughter of Ira Andrew Needham and Bertha M. Spencer.
Carrie’s maternal grandmother was Gladys Faye Luke (the daughter of Stanton M. Luke and Adeline Gillespie). Gladys was born in Oklahoma. Stanton was the son of Thomas K. Luke and Nancy Jane Whisenhunt.

According to Carrie she’s not Native American nor apart of a tribe. Someone made that up on the internet, which is wild lol https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/mar/14/carrie-underwood-private-jet-american-idol
She hadn’t joined the Muscogee Nation until later in the 2010s, but she had a history in being in Native American social clubs in college in her home state OK. I believe she wasn’t sure then found the claim was true and has joined the tribe who not only she claimed, they’d claim her back by proof she or her lineal descent family provided.
Her husband is very lucky… I always despite surname thought she’d be more german, Swedish, danish… but english people generally are not the tannest in Britain anyway…
Its funny how when someone is majority english descent, if their blonde “they look so german” if their dark featured “they look so italian”.
People are generally ignorant, and look at the world one dimensionally. They can be forgiven…or perhaps not. Underwood is an English surname, but the USA was full of imposters in the past, anglicizing their names to fit in. This lady looks like she has some English ancestry, though.
looks and awful lot like emily osment
I was going to say that
so exotic and mongoloid looking
Umm are we looking at the same picture??? She looks like a white girl, like straight up white. Not exotic at all. You need glasses.
She would fit perfectly in Mongoloidia.
