Adriana Lima is a Brazilian model and actress. She was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1999 to 2018. She stated on Fashion television that she is of Swiss, African, and Indigenous heritage. She has also said:
I’m [an] Afro-Brazilian… and my family [is also] mixed with Japanese, Black… and West Indian.
Her surname, Lima, is Portuguese. Brazil has a large Japanese community, established there since the early 1900s. Some sites say that Adriana also has French ancestry.
Adriana has two children with her former husband, Serbian professional basketball player Marko Jarić; and a son with her partner, film producer Andre Lemmers.
Adriana’s maternal grandfather was named Bertoldo Fontes Lima.
One of Adriana’s grandmothers is named Julia.
A DNA test that Adriana appeared to post on her Instagram stated that her genetic ancestry includes:
*63.5% European
——–*30.6% Spanish & Portuguese
——–*24.8% Broadly Southern European
——–*2.9% Broadly European
——–*2.2% Broadly Northwestern European
——–*1.8% British & Irish
——–*0.6% Italian
——–*0.5% Ashkenazi Jewish
——–*0.1% Greek & Balkan
Nothing of Native American that I can see,she doesn’t have high cheekbones like J Lo and Naya Rivera. Adriana looks a mix of Northern European with African Brazilian.
Her surname is of Portuguese origin.
In Latin America, African and Native slaves where force to take the surnames of Portuguese,Spanish and others.
Are you saying that like it’s something only unique to Latin America? …So where did African slaves the the USA get their surnames? lol :)
Lima is an English last name (www.houseofnames.com)
No, it’s Portuguese and it’s very common here in Brazil. There are even other artists (who look entirely Portuguese, btw) who have the name. It means “lime”.
she has so many exotic ethnic backgrounds but still looks very european to me
beautiful girl
ITS SO CRAZY
SHE LOOKS BLACK =WHITE = NATIVE AMERICAN
AT THE SAME TIME
The African,European and Native American is very visible in her daughter too:

I really think Adriana did some kind of skin whitening, the cavities of her mouth and her nipple are dark.
lol …You guys are really ignorant! lol …First of all…NO…I don’t see any African in her features, what so ever….She looks ALL LATIN…. Second of all…What the hell makes you think that she does any skin bleaching?!! …She is probably doing more tanning than anything else!!!! lol …Crazy Ignorance!!!! lol
Do you guys actually look at different African groups,or do you just stick to stereotypes?African people have all the Phenotypes.
The European things about her is her eye color (maybe caue some Africans have light eyes) and her light skin, nose, nothing else I see. Everything else looks Asian or African.
Her name seems very Italian which makes sense because some Swiss are of Italian decent. Many Italians live in Switzerland.
You are right.

There are so many Italians in Switzerland that they label the group “Swiss Italians.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_immigration_to_Switzerland
Benito Mussolini, the fascist Italian leader, emigrated to Switzerland in 1902, but he was then deported because of his involvement in the socialist movement.
Thank you for the information, Rob. I did not know that the Swiss and Italian intermingled often.
But after looking at geography, this makes more than a bit of sense.
Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, and France border the North of Italy, while the South borders Sardinia and Sicily, which are the two largest islands in the M e d i t e r r a n e a n Sea. But of course Sicily and Sardinia are a part of Italy and are Italian people.
