Miranda Otto is an Australian actress. Her roles include the films Emma’s War, The Thin Red Line, What Lies Beneath, The Lord of the Rings universe, Flight of the Phoenix (2004), War of the Worlds (2005), Reaching for the Moon, I, Frankenstein; Annabelle: Creation, The Silence (2019), Downhill (2020), and Talk to Me (2022).

She is the daughter of actors Lindsay Otto and Barry Otto. Her half-sister is actress Gracie Otto. Miranda is married to actor Peter O’Brien, with whom she has a daughter.

Miranda’s great-grandmother Margery was born in Victoria, to parents from Scotland.

Miranda’s legal grandfather Ronald Otto was not her biological grandfather. Ronald was of German descent.

Miranda’s paternal grandmother was Alice Eileen Long (the daughter of James Francis Long and Augusta Alice Spall). Alice was born in Queensland. James was born in Queensland. Augusta was born in Queensland, the daughter of William George Spall, who was English, from Middlesex.

Miranda’s maternal grandfather was John Lindsay Clayton (the son of Sidney/Sydney Augustus Clayton and Isabella “Bella “Stewart Dowrie). John was born in Queensland.
