Marie Dressler was a Canadian and American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Min and Bill (1930).

She was born in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. Her father, Alexander Rudolph Koerber, was Austrian, and had fought in the Crimean War. Her mother, Anna Henderson, was born in Port Hope, Ontario, and had Scottish and English ancestry. Marie moved to the United States with her family c. the 1870s.

Marie’s paternal grandparents were likely Johann Samuel Korber and Henriette Windt.

Marie’s maternal grandparents were George Henderson and Jane Ann Marsh (the daughter of William Samuel Marsh and Lucia Rice). William was born in Ontario, the son of Samuel William Marsh, from Bennington, Vermont, and of Jean Ostrum.
