Bill Kristol, also known as William Kristol, is an American political analyst and commentator. As a Republican, he served as Chief of Staff to the Vice President of the United States, Dan Quayle, from January 20, 1989 to January 20, 1993.

Bill is the son of Gertrude Himmelfarb, also known as Bea Kristol, a historian, and Irving Kristol, a journalist, who was dubbed the “godfather of neoconservatism.” Both of his parents were born in New York, and all of his grandparents were Russian Jewish immigrants.

Bill is married to Susan Scheinberg, with whom he has three children. Susan is also Jewish. Their daughter, Anne, is married to conservative writer and journalist Matthew Continetti.

Bill’s paternal grandfather was named Joseph Kristol.

Bill’s paternal grandmother was named Bessie/Pesse/Pesia Mailman/Mehlman.

Bill’s maternal grandfather was named Mordechai Tzvi “Max” Himmelfarb.
