Nathan Mackinnon is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is a centre for, and captain of, the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Nathan is the son of Kathy and Graham MacKinnon. He played in the minor ice hockey system of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Nathan’s paternal grandfather is named James Alexander MacKinnon.

Nathan’s paternal grandmother is Freeda Charolette Harvey (the daughter of George Henry Harvey and Ida May Burris).
