Greg Stanton is an American politician and lawyer. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona, since January 3, 2019. He was previously Mayor of Phoenix, from January 3, 2012 to May 29, 2018.

He is married to Nicole, with whom he has two children.

His maternal grandfather was Jewish, though Greg’s mother was a devout Catholic.

Greg’s paternal grandfather was John Alden Stanton (the son of Dr. Frederick Lester Stanton and Virginia Randell). John was born in New York.

Greg’s paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Fish (the daughter of Harry Potter Fish and Maude Beulah Stimson). Elizabeth was born in New York. Harry was the son of Horace Walworth Fish and Anna Babcock Potter. Maude was the daughter of Charles Woodbury Stimson and Minnie Eliza Lant.

Greg’s maternal grandfather was Harry Johnpoll (the son of Joseph Johnpoll and Slata Chaskin). Harry was a Russian Jewish immigrant.

Greg’s maternal grandmother was Louise C. Steinbock (the daughter of Robert Steinbock and Anna O’Neill). Louise was born in New York. Anna was the daughter of James J. O’Neill and Amelia Upson.
