Park Chung-hee was a South Korean politician and general. He served as President of South Korea, from 17 December, 1963, until his assassination, on 26 October, 1979. He was also Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconstruction, from 3 July, 1961 to 17 December, 1963.
He was the son of Park Sung-bin and Bek Nam-eui. With his first wife, Kim Ho-nam, he was the father of Park Geun-hye, who was the eleventh President of South Korea. His second wife, Yuk Young-soo, was killed in an assassination attempt against Park in 1974. Park and Yuk had three children together.
Chung-hee’s paternal grandfather was named Park Yeong-gyu (the son of Park Yi-chan).
Chung-hee’s paternal grandmother was named Seong San-yi-si.
