Park Chung-hee was a South Korean politician and army general. He served as President of South Korea, from March 24, 1962 to October 26, 1979, his assassination; as well as, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconstruction, from May 16, 1961 to July 2, 1961, Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconstruction, from July 3, 1961 to December 17, 1963, and Prime Minister of South Korea (Acting), from June 16, 1962 to July 10, 1962.

He was the son of Bek Nam-eui and Park Sung-bin. With his first wife, Kim Ho-nam, he was the father of Park Geun-hye, who was also President of South Korea, from 25 February, 2013 to 10 March, 2017. His second wife, Yuk Young-soo, was killed in an assassination attempt against Park in 1974. Park and Yuk had three children together.

Chung-hee’s paternal grandfather was named Park Yeong-gyu (the son of Park Yi-chan).

Chung-hee’s paternal grandmother was named Seong San-yi-si.
