David Silva is a Spanish professional footballer. A central or attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger or second striker, he played for Valencia B, Valencia, Eibar, Celta, Manchester City, and Real Sociedad; and the Spanish national team. He is nicknamed “Chino,” Spanish for “Chinese,” as well as “Merlin” and “El Mago.”

David is the son of Eva Silva and Fernando Jiménez, a municipal police officer, who later was made responsible for the safety of the Valencia CF stadium. David is a devout Catholic. He has a son.

David’s maternal grandfather was from South Korea or Japan, and settled on the Canary Islands.
