James Younghusband is an English-Filipino professional footballer. A right midfielder and striker, he played for AFC Wimbledon, Staines Town, Woking, Farnborough, San Beda FC, Meralco Sparks/Manila, Davao Aguilas, and Ceres–Negros, and the Philippines national team.

He is the son of Susan Catherina Chua Placer and Philip James Younghusband. His father was English. His mother was a Filipina, of one half Bicolano, one quarter Kapampangan, and one quarter Chinese, descent. He is the older brother of professional footballer Phil Younghusband.

James’ maternal grandfather was Rolando Pagio Placer (Rolando Lim Placer, the son of Dominador Placer and Pelagia Lim). Dominador was born in Guinobatan, Albay, the son of Aleja Placer y Palencia, or Aleja Palencia Placer in Filipino. Dominador’s father was possibly Basilio Palencia y Orayta, or Basilio Orayta Palencia in Filipino. Pelagia was also born in Guinobatan, Albay. Her surname is of Chinese origin.

James’ maternal grandmother was Juanita Liwanag Chua (the daughter of Chua Chue Be and Leonora Liwanag). Chua Chue Be was a Chinese emigrant, from Xiamen. Leonora was from Angeles, Pampanga.
