The Nadal side are Spanish I’ve seen his father, uncles, cousins, and Nadal grandparents and none of them he resembles. He inherited that unique facial features, mousy button nose look from his mother side. Not much is known from mom side but her surname spelling Perera is Portuguese in origin opening a lot of doors for Rafa’s other half being Other than Spanish…
“Perera is a common surname in Sri Lanka, Portugal, Brazil, and most of the Lusosphere.”

unfortunately Rafa’s mother’s surname is “Parera”, not “Perera”.

Not the first time I hear he’s adopted. He doesn’t look anything like his mother or sister:

That’s not too far from the average for Neanderthal admixture in Eurasians.

Looks like a caveman.

Gurrl August 2, 2015 at 6:09 pm

If he was born in a Latin American Country everyone would be certain he is mixed with something. Slightly exotic looking Spaniard. He has no ancestry from the Canary Islands?

cwm85 August 2, 2015 at 6:18 pm

He’s European.

Gurrl August 2, 2015 at 6:27 pm

I am aware.

cwm85 July 26, 2015 at 7:47 am

Nadal is 100 percent European. His family is from Spain. His parents, sisters all look 100 percent European
His phenotype is European. He’s not not from central America, south America. Spain was not inhabitant by amerindians.

alberto.r7 April 6, 2015 at 3:50 pm

I am Spanish and I recognize that Rafael Nadal seems a little exotic to be 100% Spaniard but it is true that he is. His family are 100% Spaniard and they look 100%Spaniard. There is a photo of them(his father, his sister and his mother)

jokin March 24, 2015 at 8:41 am

DA X mann April 3, 2012 at 1:58 pm

he looks mestizo. In fact he looks plain native american. They’re are some native americans that look like him.

the punisher December 7, 2013 at 2:49 pm
ashash March 30, 2015 at 2:48 am

He isn’t Native American.

SpaniardIam March 31, 2015 at 12:55 am

NO. 100% ancestors spaniard.

leslie_4 March 31, 2015 at 1:27 am

He does not look Mestizo or native atall, he looks different but DEFINTLEY NOT NATIVE OR MEXICAN.. ) If he was, why does he live in Spain and his ancestors have ONLY lived in Spain or in Europe? lool

He’s 100% from Spain or other parts of Europe. Come on people.

mary July 9, 2011 at 1:08 pm

To me, he looks like native americans. I know he is spanish but I can t accept that he is totally mediteranean.

leslie_4 March 31, 2015 at 1:28 am

Well, better learn to accept it, he’s 100% Spanish or other euro mixed, no Native, no mestizo.

Rachel Vasquez June 19, 2011 at 9:34 pm

He doesn’t look full European, he reminds me of Taylor Lautner. Is it possible that he has some Asian or Amerindian ancestry?

SpaniardIam March 29, 2015 at 2:58 am

No, it is not possible. Nadal ‘s family comes to 100 percent in Europe. His ancestors were never in America . Nadal seems Amerindian but he is 100 percent Spaniard.
