Paweł Pawlikowski is a Polish filmmaker. He has directed the films Last Resort, My Summer of Love, The Woman in the Fifth, Ida, and Cold War. He also wrote The Woman in the Fifth, and co-wrote his other aforementioned films, as well as Lost in Karastan.
He left then-Communist Poland at age fourteen, and lived in the U.K. for decades before returning to Poland. His father was a doctor and his mother a professor of English literature. Paweł is married to model and actress Małgosia Bela. He has two children with his late wife. Paweł’s religion is Catholic.
Paweł’s paternal grandmother was Jewish, and died in Auschwitz.
