Oriol Junqueras is a Spanish historian and politician. He was the Vice President of Catalonia, from 14 January, 2016 to 28 October, 2017. He has also served as the Minister of Economy and Finance in Catalonia, from 14 January, 2016 to 27 October, 2017; a member of the European Parliament for Spain, from 14 July, 2009 to 31 December, 2011, and again, from 2 July, 2019 to 2 January, 2020; and a Mayor of Sant Vicenç dels Horts, Barcelona, from 11 June, 2011 to 23 December, 2015.

His father, Artur Junqueras i Esteve, was a high school teacher, also from Sant Andreu de Palomar. He is pictured here. His mother, whose surname is Vies, was a nurse.

Oriol is married to Neus Bramona, with whom he has two children.

Oriol’s paternal grandfather was surnamed Junqueras.

Oriol’s paternal grandmother was named Berta Esteve i Saldrigues (the daughter of parents surnamed Esteve and Saldrigues).
