Sanjay Gupta is an American neurosurgeon, medical reporter, and writer. He often appears on CNN, where he was the host of the show Sanjay Gupta, M.D.

Sanjay is the son of Damyanti and Subhash Gupta. His parents were Indian immigrants, who worked as engineers for the Ford Motor Company. His mother was born in Tharushah in Sindh, now Pakistan, and left for India at age five during the Partition. He is married to family law attorney Rebecca Olson, with whom he has three children.

Sanjay’s paternal grandfather was named Lakhmichand Gupta (the son of Molarchand Gupta).

Sanjay’s paternal grandmother was named Indira Jain.
