According to this, one of her ancestors on her mother’s side, Hans Michael (Gudknecht) Goodnight, is related to Harry Truman and Barack Obama.

Ardor May 21, 2017 at 10:43 pm

I will call it the George Clooney Effect (when it comes to Americans) and the Sean Connery Effect (when it comes to Brits).

It’s really fascinating how some people can have such dark features and be purely Celtic or even Germanic.

phaedra April 24, 2016 at 11:48 pm

Remote French? More like, remote Sicilian or Sephardi Jewish. I expected a more darker “category” at the end.

Gorgeous woman, btw.

andrew April 25, 2016 at 1:55 am

You will be shocked when you see Eric Roberts then.

phaedra May 15, 2016 at 6:59 pm

Not only they don’t lookalike as siblings, they look ethnicities apart! He looks Swedish and she looks Spanish, in comparison. :/

guyinsf May 17, 2016 at 12:03 am

Her brother does not look Swedish. They very much look the same except eye color.

andrew November 25, 2015 at 3:13 pm

Julia’s sister Lisa Roberts Gillan has acted

suzana November 25, 2015 at 3:30 am

I noticed many people are insecure if they discover that outside europe soo many people are not dark or brown … climate and many factor affect how people might look… and its definitely about taste, I’ve seen very beautiful blondes and brunettes.

xoxo October 27, 2015 at 10:37 pm

Just ignorant people, the ones who asked why she has brown eyes have to search more. Her eyes are amber they aren’t brown, lets say that she has brown eyes, mostly the people with her eye color, have one parent or at least two grandparents with light eyes blue/green/grey, because if she didn’t have one, she might have really dark brown eyes, and that’s where the swedish come, maybe she doesn’t have blue eyes or somerhhing, but I’m really shure she have ancestors with really light eyes colors, Her eyes are clearly mixed- light. like Emma roberts. And she does not look pure italian, she can pass as a central or western european or northern italian, but never southern italian. Look Buddy Valastro he actually looks so Italian maybe north african too. Search a lilttle bit more people.

cwm85 July 30, 2015 at 8:39 pm

JJ that was a truly stupid statement. My hair ks black, not dark brown but black.

Check7t August 11, 2014 at 4:42 am

has brown hair

billErobreren December 15, 2013 at 3:14 am
andrew December 15, 2013 at 7:50 am

John Cusack and Paul McCartney are dark brown examples

billErobreren December 16, 2013 at 10:31 am

If we’re talking Paul circa ’64 then yes, I can’t stomach that weird auburn dye job he sports nowadays! Cusak’s hair is virtually black Dylan Moran’s hair might be dark brown

andrew December 16, 2013 at 12:40 pm

yeah John Cusack hair look black, but with some more attention you will see they’re dark brown, the same for Paul in the 60s.

J.J. December 16, 2013 at 10:16 pm

There may be some confusion deciphering light & dark brown hair and dark brown & virtually black hair. Well the truth is no one (not even negroids or mongoloids) has pure black hair, it is always a dark brown however if we use the natural hair colour number scales you’ll see it gets to a point where the brown is so dark that it does look black and would need an immense amount of lighting to show brown tones. So one could make the argument dark brown and virtually black are the same thing but well theres a difference between hair that looks brown but is a dark shade of such which may look black at certain times, and hair that is an extremely dark brown and looks black most of the time.

If you’ll look on that chart, a number 1 black is impossible to achieve naturally on a human (even though some peoples may appear to be that colour) a number 2 which is an extremely dark brown would be reserved to non-Caucasian peoples who do not have any blue eyed and blonde haired ancestry whatsoever making it the darkest natural colour hair could possibly be, a number 3 would be as dark as a Caucasians hair can possibly get which is common amongst middle easterns and to a lesser extent southern Europeans, and finally a number 4 is the generic dark brown which is common amongst many white people of European descent whom have dark hair (particularly southern Europeans). So personally I consider a person with a natural 2 or 3 hair colour as a virtually black noirette and someone with a number 4 and in some cases even a number 5 (depending on pictures and dyes they have in their hair as contrast) as a dark brown brunette, But that is why i use the term ‘virtually black’ as I’m acknowledging the fact that the persons hair is not ‘truly black’ and is just an extremely dark brown. But this a subjective matter as some would class all 2,3 and 4 hair colours as simply dark brown and some would only class non-Caucasian number 2 colour as virtually black, it is a matter of opinion and POV in the end really.

Capricious October 9, 2015 at 12:07 am

She still looks Italian/Med. Brown hair isn’t just a German/English feature.

J.J. October 14, 2013 at 9:57 pm

correction; her eyes are hazel (light brown) and her hair is dark brown (brunette) I think it should be listed

andrew October 15, 2013 at 2:07 pm

I remember her with curly reddish hair in her first movies

nathan tisdale-mottram December 7, 2013 at 5:04 pm

you love saying correction! dark brown brunnette hair and hazel brown eyes how on earth do you know just because someone gets a colour tint or natural highlights doesn’t mean his/her hair is dark I am a hairdresser I know what I am talking about

J.J. December 10, 2013 at 6:47 pm

i look at photos of the celebrity on google images and considering most women dye their hair i look at their roots and/or past photos where they didn’t dye it, i don’t just make things up and I’m actually going to the trouble of trying to correct celebrity hair and eye colours, i don’t appreciate being belittled.

Donelle September 11, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Julia Roberts is Caucasian. I thought this was about different ethnicities. She is mainly of European descent.

theropod July 16, 2013 at 5:59 am

I thought she was Italian or Jewish.

andrew July 16, 2013 at 3:39 pm

not really

Bobatu March 22, 2012 at 4:05 pm

She is Somali

christian March 22, 2012 at 4:02 pm

there are also a lot of people in southern germany who look like her and there are not mixed

theropod June 24, 2013 at 3:28 am

Yes definitely Italian.

So is Sandra Bullock.

But the sources say they aren’t.

If she’s Swedish then she would have bigger eyes, blue, pale skin (she’s olive). She’s also Dutch, Irish and English. But still looks more fully Italian or Jewish.

follers June 24, 2013 at 3:36 am

Nothing to do with sources, these actresses’ family trees have been traced in detail. There are plenty of other Anglo-American women who look like her in the South, it’s nothing irregular.

SmartAss July 16, 2013 at 12:10 pm

lol what a bullshit the most germans are dark haired no north-south divide… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hair_color_in_Europe_map.png

sadie March 15, 2012 at 2:37 am

She is definitely not PRETTY WOMAN! She has a huge mouth. People you all need to take history lessons and learn about ethnicities.

I love you, Roger Scientist March 15, 2012 at 4:42 am

I don’t thinks he is pretty either.

But I do like that movie.

storm January 28, 2012 at 1:53 am

i never knew she wasnt white. why wasnt she celebrated as first native american woman to win an oscar?

me January 28, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Yes. All this time I thought Julia Roberts was a white lady. I am shocked to find out that she is not. All my life I thought Jessica Simpson, Quentin Tarantino, Hillary Clinton, Megan Fox, and Anne Hathaway were white as well. But they are not.

The Native American community should honor them.

Worldgrl November 11, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I always thought she had jewish in her something like Israeli.

laura October 17, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Me! November 17, 2010 at 10:32 am

haha..and you are stupid… that is just a huge lie!! they are all White.. they just pretend to have some indian blood! how can a Blue eyed and blonde haired Miley Cyrus have indian blood

Jem February 9, 2011 at 9:18 pm

I love the wind February 21, 2011 at 10:59 pm

How can someone with blue eyes and blond hair have Indian blood? It’s very possible! Do you know nothing about genetics? If someone is mixed, they can inherit genes from BOTH sides of the family. Say someone is half Swedish (blond haired, fair skinned, and blue eyed) and half Cherokee Indian (dark hair, tan skin, and brown eyes). They will probably inherit mostly dominant traits (usually the darker ones), but also some recessive traits (usually the lighter ones). So, for instance, they may have dark skin and hair, but blue eyes. Now suppose this person mates with someone of English ancestry (let’s say…blond hair and green eyes). Their children will inherit both those dominant Cherokee traits AND the recessive European traits, which become stronger when they are coming from both sides of the family. So, as the Cherokee traits become more distant, their descendants will come to show no physical Cherokee traits, but will still carry them in their DNA. Therefore, someone who doesn’t look “Indian” can still have Native American ancestry.

I’ve been reading some of your comments. Not to be mean, but you just say anything that pops into your head, without anything to back it up.It’s real easy as you say for a( Blue eyed and blond haired Miley Cyrus have native blood ).Look at Larry David he’s 37% native,I ask you does he look it?.Your outward appearance doesn’t tell everything about your ethnicity

brianna May 2, 2011 at 10:41 pm

Yeah. All those people you named would be lucky if they if they had more than 5% native blood. Native wannabes. LOL.

: ) September 28, 2010 at 2:09 pm

guys don’t be mean… i have jewish in me

Me! April 8, 2011 at 3:48 pm

you have a religion in you.. HAHA.. stupid..!

poop de bear September 13, 2010 at 8:17 pm

Roberts is black. Everyone in her home town of Georgia knows it but her pr people have a way of editing what comes on the internet about her. Naturally curly red hair , huge lips, and pasty skin that is light but not really light is always the clue. She is what the original creoles looked like and everyone down south knows it. Unless you are jewish or italian when you look like that you’re black. Probably a black great grand mother who had to hook up with old geogria slave master.

ethnic September 14, 2010 at 6:04 am

um ok…

Anonymous September 14, 2010 at 8:01 am

JoANNE August 25, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Alice January 14, 2012 at 11:53 pm

Well 95% or more of the population of the world has brown eyes. You do know that brown eyes are the majority virtually everywhere except the Northern part of Europe.
