Mark Damon was an American actor and film producer. He starred as Philip Winthrop in Roger Corman’s film House of Usher (1960). He moved to Italy in the 1960s, starring in spaghetti westerns and becoming a member of Rome’s “dolce vita” set of actors. His other roles include the films Beauty and the Beast (1962), The Longest Day, The Reluctant Saint, The Young Racers, Black Sabbath, 100 Horsemen, Johnny Oro, Johnny Umo, No Killing Without Dollars, Train for Durango, and Dead Men Don’t Count. Later a prolific film producer, he founded production companies Producers Sales Organization, Vision International, MDP Worldwide, and Foresight Unlimited.

Mark was the son of Lillian (Elfman) and Irving Herscovitz. He was a first cousin of composer, singer, songwriter, and record producer Danny Elfman. Mark’s mother and Danny’s father were siblings. He was married to actress Margaret Markov, until his death, with whom he had two children.

Mark’s paternal grandfather was Max/Marcu Herscovitz/Herscuvici/Herscovity (the son of Hyman Herscovitz and Mary Singer). Max was born in Romania.

Mark’s paternal grandmother was named Molly/Amalia/Mollie Weiss. Molly was born in Romania.

Mark’s maternal grandfather was Leib/Leibe/Leyb/Louis Elfman (the son of Jozef/Joszk/Yoisef Schloma/Szloma Elfman and Sarah Channa/Channah Delevi). Leib was born in Łomża, Poland. Jozef was born in Osada Jablonka, Lomza, the son of Tomchin/Herszk Abramowicz Elfman and Leah/Szejna Rochla Subkiewicz. Sarah was the daughter of Avram Delevi and Rafche/Ryfka Kraska.

Mark’s maternal grandmother was named Reyza/Rose Kamin/Kaminski/Kanefsky/Koman/Rosenthal (the daughter of Myrtle Moglitsky). Reyza was born in Poland.
