Jen Psaki is an American television political analyst and government official. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been White House Deputy Press Secretary, from January 20, 2009 to December 19, 2009, White House Deputy Communications Director, from December 19, 2009 to September 22, 2011, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, from April 5, 2013 to March 31, 2015, White House Communications Director, from April 1, 2015 to January 20, 2017, and White House Press Secretary, from January 20, 2021 to May 13, 2022.

Jen is the daughter of Eileen, a psychotherapist, and Dimitrios R. “James” Psaki, a real estate developer. She is married to congressional chief of staff Greg Mecher, with whom she has two children.

Jen’s paternal grandfather was Raoul Constantine Psaki (the son of Constantine George Psaki and Frances de Chantal Moore/Vogel). Constantine was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, the son of George Emanuel Psaki and Irene T. Levounis. Frances was the daughter of Jonathan Francis Moore and Mary Ann Crowley, whose own paternal grandparents, and mother, were Irish.

Jen’s paternal grandmother was Mary Agnes Keane (the daughter of Antony Patrick Keane and Mary Ann Flynn). Antony was the son of Irish parents, Patrick J. Keane and Julia Mulry. Jen’s great-grandmother Mary Ann was the daughter of Irish parents, James Aloysius Flynn and Mary Anne Gannon.

Jen’s maternal grandfather was Sylvester J. Dailey (the son of John Marshall Dailey and Ellen F. “Nellie” Doyle). John was the son of John Marshall Dailey and Margaret Ellen O’Hara, whose parents were Irish.

Jen’s maternal grandmother was Genevieve Lambert (the daughter of William Lambert and Sarah Jane Hope). William was the son of John Lambert, who was German, and of Anna/Hannah Kring/Cring, whose mother was born in Lancashire, England, and likely was of Irish ancestry. Sarah was the daughter of William Clarance Hope and Eliza Loretta/Lauretta Peterson.
