Jaira’s paternal grandfather was William LeRoy Burns (the son of William E. John Burns and Ruth Marie Klingensmith). Jaira’s grandfather William was born in Bagdad, Pennsylvania. Jaira’s great-grandfather William was the son of Samuel Elmer Burns, whose mother was Irish, and of Katherine Eva Bobberts, who was of at least mostly German descent. Ruth was the daughter of Dewey Daniel Klingensmith, who was of German descent, and of Mathilda Anna Wess, whose parents were also German.

Jaira’s paternal grandmother was Rebecca Ann Lewis (the daughter of Carl Lewis and Faletta E. Clark). Rebecca was born in Cabot, Pennsylvania. Carl was the son of William W. Lewis, a Welsh emigrant, from Cardiff, and of Catherine Adams Bibby, a Scottish emigrant, from Bothwell, Lanarkshire. Faletta was the daughter of John Ball Clark, whose parents were English, from Durham, and of Charlotte M. Roberts, whose father was Welsh and whose mother was English.
