She is the daughter of Geneva Pauline and Axel Carl Richard Swenson. Her father was a Swedish emigrant, from Ramkvilla. Her mother was of half German and half English descent.

Inga’s paternal grandfather was named Carl Swenson.

Inga’s paternal grandmother was named Inga Peterson.

Inga’s maternal grandfather was Hugo William Seeger (the son of Gustave G. Seeger and Elizabeth Jeannette Friederike Normann). Hugo was born in Iowa, to German parents. Elizabeth was born in Lübeck, the daughter of Peter Heinrich Normann and Dorothea Johanna Lesznau.
