Herman De Croo is a Belgian politician. He has served as a Belgian Member of Parliament, since 8 June 1995, and previously, from 31 March, 1968 to 15 December, 1991. He was also a Senator, from 16 December, 1991 to 7 June, 1995, and President of the Chamber of Representatives, from 1 July, 1999 to 12 July, 2007.

Herman is the son of Joannes Baptista Alphonsus Josephus “Alfons” De Croo and Germana Maria Magdalena “Germaine” Wauters. He is married to barrister Françoise Desguin, with whom he has two children, including politician Alexander De Croo.

Herman’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his sixth great-grandfather, Adrianus De Croo.

Herman’s paternal grandfather was Franciscus De Croo (the son of Constantinus De Croo and Felicitas Van Der Bracht). Franciscus was born in Michelbeke, East Flanders. Constantinus was the son of Petrus Franciscus De Croo and Genoveva Devel. Felicitas was the daughter of Constantinus Van Der Bracht and Maria Anna Van Weymersch.

Herman’s paternal grandmother was named Maria Eugenia Verhoeven.

Herman’s maternal grandfather was Clement Wauters (the son of Joannes Franciscus “Frans” Wauters and Clara Anna Van Bondt). Clement was born in Meerbeke, East Flanders. Franciscus was the son of Joannes Wauters and Catharina Baveghems. Clara was the daughter of Adrianus Van Bondt and Catharina Valckeniers.

Herman’s maternal grandmother was Jeanne (or Joanna in Dutch) Henrion (the daughter of an unknown father, and of Thérèse Antoinette Henrion). Jeanne was born in Brussels.
