Sam’s paternal grandfather was Raymond Ted Milby (the son of Charles Milby and Laura Alice Larimore). Raymond was born in Indiana. Charles was the son of Elisha Shelby Milby and Elizabeth Frances Corum. Laura was the daughter of William Linsey Larimore and Mary Susan DeSpain.

Sam’s paternal grandmother was Delia Frances Barkley (the daughter of William Samuel Barkley and Ada Florence Shoop). Delia was born in Missouri. Gavino was the son of Margarito Ronquillo and María Machica. Sofia was the daughter of Rosauro “Sauro” Corvera and Benita Tajonera.

Sam’s surname, Milby, is sometimes mistaken for Norwegian (from Melby), but his patrilineal ancestors actually came from England.
