Joss has sometimes been said to be of Jewish heritage. This is not accurate.
She is very pretty. I think she has Jewish ancestry.
I ask this question in all seriousness, are you sure she has no recent Jewish roots?
I doubt she has any and I don’t think anyone is looking.
The last sentence says “Joss has sometimes been said to be of Jewish heritage. This is not accurate.” I think “is not accurate” should be changed to “does not appear to be accurate.”
If you want to, you can look for some Jewish heritage. But unless you have some kind of evidence that she has some, with as much documentation as we already have on her, there is no justification for adding doubt.
You mean like when you assumed Abigail Breslin had no Jewish ancestry? Don’t say it wasn’t you if you are now going to interject in all my comments as if you are an admin.
None of this was meant as an insult; I don’t care about what “beef” we allegedly have. I certainly don’t think about it every time I log on here. lol
It’s just kind of a simple observation of what’s required on this website as to the description of any given celebrity.
Ethnic and others have looked through her ancestry, and haven’t found any identifiable Jewish ancestry. Maybe she has some; but that’s incumbent upon anyone purporting it to find documentation of.
The site doesn’t generally list someone as having “possibly other” ancestry unless it’s visibly identifiable. That seems like a fair rule to work under to me.
” Stone is not at all religious–or if she is, she doesn’t let on at all. There is much speculation that she is Jewish, and even a few websites seem to be rather confident of that.[1] But I can’t seem to find anything very convincing to support that claim”

I am very curious where all this speculation is coming from. I think it is possible she does have Jewish ancestry, maybe from her paternal grandmother? It seems strange that multiple sources would come with it out of the blue
Man, I’ve seen lists compiled going back well over 20 years that claim everyone in Hollywood is Jewish if their heritage was not expressly known. Sometimes all it is, is speculation. Sometimes people will refuse to believe well known genealogies of people and still think they’re Jewish. Hitler was a secret Rothschild, the English royals are secret Rothschilds, Rupert Murdoch is a secret Rothschild. Dude everyone is Jewish on the internet. Sometimes it’s just public misconception.
“Sometimes people will refuse to believe well known genealogies of people and still think they’re Jewish.”
Abigail Breslin’s paternal grandmother was unknown and you were wrong. Joss Stone’s (regardless of Jewish or not) has not had her genealogy completely documented either. You should quit using straw man arguments
I wasn’t adamant Abigail wasn’t Jewish, was I? Did I not help confirm she was Jewish by checking her twitter feed, and then other users corroborated her grandmother’s name with documentation?
Don’t know why you’re lumping me in with Oaken05, I know you guys rub each other the wrong way, but I thought we were cool.
You’re right passing time, my apologizes. I think you are very cool and love everything you have done to help this site. But I strongly disagree with the quote that I highlighted about people refusing to believe that someone doesn’t have Jewish and keep claiming they do. Sorry for saying “straw man argument” that was harsh, indeed. All I meant was I disagreed with that point. But I still think Joss Stone could have Jewish ancestry on her unknown part of her tree. and thank you for the Breslin research.
No problem man. I think it would be interesting if Joss had Jewish heritage, but idk, it’s not looking like it’ll head towards that direction, she’s fairly British so far.
But who knows, maybe it’ll turn out that you’re correct. I looked over the Abigail Breslin comments to refresh my memory. I really wish the admins would have accepted that deal you proposed years ago, if you ended up being correct they’d give you moderator privileges, but I don’t Ethnic or Follers ever wants to give up their reigns. Maybe if Joss does have Jewish heritage they’d give you some power this time.
BTW I respectfully am not sure I agree with the premise. Hollywood celebs don’t usually have Jewish roots rumors unless they falsely claim it e.g. Alessandra Torresani, Whoopi Goldberg, etc. majority of Hollywood don’t have that rumor attached to them. P.S. I am glad we are friends and share a passion of genealogy :)
just read that last comment and I wish I was an admin lol
I agree, most celebs do not have Jewish heritage, but there’s really obsessive people out there that see what they want to see. Like a certain user that recently has been spouting off left and right that everyone is Arab/Levantine. There’s been people like him for over a century obsessing over people in the media, except they see Jews instead of Arabs.
It’s all muddled and kinda dumb.
But you’re right, the Joss Stone claim is weird, and I really wonder where that rumor started, and if it’s true or just old fashioned “everyone in entertainment is a Jew” type of thinking.
Yeah, it’s neat to have people get along with on here. Although you’ve been more useful to the site than I have for the last few years. Mostly I just hang out and shoot the breeze, you actually still add helpful information to profiles. Keep up the good work.
