Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic, blogger, and public speaker. She is the creator of Feminist Frequency, a website that hosts videos and commentary examining portrayals of women in popular culture, and the video series Tropes vs. Women in Video Games, which deconstructs tropes involving female video game characters.

Her parents are Armenians from Iraq, who emigrated to Canada in the 1970s, settling in Toronto, Ontario. She later moved to California, and identifies as Canadian-American.
