He adopted his surname, “Shakur”, from his stepfather, black nationalist Mutulu Shakur (who was born Jeral Wayne Williams). His mother gave him the name Tupac Amaru after the Peruvian revolutionary Túpac Amaru II. His parents were Black Panther members. His mother was also a businessperson, philanthropist, political activist. His stepbrother is rapper Mopreme Shakur.

    He looked like a mulatto, clearly a more admixed African-American.

    Does not look like your typical black dude, he’s about as black as Obama is. Barack is a true mulatto too (his father is from Sub-Saharan Africa) so yes. I would not guess Pac as anymore than 50% black.

    • midori29 says:

      NOT. Barack is not a true mullato because his mothers white side has black slave ancestry. Tupac looks typically black.

    • Kerrywhite says:

      As it says above, Pac is 1/16 White and 15/16 Black – 6% White and 94% Black, hence he is a black american. With that out the way, I think you white people think an African-American is supposed to be dark in skin tone as Akon with a big ass nose, not the case

    RIP God of Rap

    Funny seeing non blacks trying to label him as mix instead of black, when there is someone black that other race of people like, they critique them to the tee, and try to find some so called “Not typical black looking” features on them to use that as ammunition to claim them as not being black. RIP 2PAC

    He was a beautiful specimen.

  5. Caution says:

    He looks like a straight up mulatto — typical Bantu Negroid/European mix.

    He was a more admixed African-American obviously.

      Tupac’ s biological father is still alive and his parents were Tuaregs (who are from NorthWest and the Sahel, which isn’t in North Africa.) Tuareg have tricking features. Tuareg are also Berbers (they are indigenous people of North Africa but spread to Niger, Mali, parts of Nigeria). Almost all African Americans have European ancestry. Mulatto is such a pejorative term. Tupac does not look half “white”.

      @caution, NONSENSE
