His cousin is coxswain and attorney Marcus McElhenney. Rob is married to actress and comedian Kaitlin Olson, with whom he has two children.
Rob’s paternal grandfather was Robert J. McElhenney (the son of James Joseph McElhenney and Isabella Beitler/Bitler). Rob’s grandfather Robert was born in Pennsylvania. James was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Bridget, who was Irish. Isabella likely was the daughter of George Bitler/Beitler, whose parents were German, and of Isabella, whose parents were Irish.
Rob’s paternal grandmother is the daughter of Hubert Patrick Morris and Margaret F. McCullough. Hubert was the son of John William Morris, who was born in Newfoundland, Canada, of Irish and Scottish descent, and of Annie McPhilomy, who was born in Pennsylvania, to Irish parents. Margaret was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of James McCullough and Mary, who were Irish.
Rob’s maternal grandfather was George F. Summers, Sr. (the son of Mortimer Peter Summers and Emma Anna Geiger). George was born in Pennsylvania. Mortimer was the son of Francis P. Summers/Summer, whose father was Irish; and of Annie, whose parents were also Irish. Emma likely was the daughter of Louis/Ludwig Geiger, who was German, and of Marie/Maria Barth, whose parents were also German.
Rob’s maternal grandmother was May Clements (the daughter of Robert John Clements and Helena Justine Bruker). Robert’s parents were Irish. Helena’s parents were German.

McElhenny and Mccullough are both Scotch-Irish names. That is to say they came from Scotland originally and settled in Ulster during the plantations.
Don’t think you’re right – McElhe(i)nny is Irish and McCullough can be:

But gel…he hasn’t got pale blue eyes. I thought you said everyone on da Emerald Isle has? Have you got any blue-colored contact lenses for him? or better still, a link showing it?
Hi Follers, I believe Rob McElhenney may be 1/8th or 1/16 Scottish but I don’t know for certain. Rob’s paternal great-grandfather James Joseph McElhenney was born in Glasgow, Scotland but his mother was born in Ireland. James McElhenney’s mother was the only ancestor shown on Geni.com btw.
green not blue eyes
Just looked at his ancestry and this basically sums it up : https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McElhenney_III-1
He is mainly Irish (the Scottish could be Irish) on his paternal side, with the exception of Isabella Beitler (not Butler) where the German comes from her dad and she has Irish blood through her mother’s side- https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M37Q-BCL
As for the maternal side, he is half Irish and half German it seems the Summers are Irish and the Geigers are German. I think Emma Geigers father was Ludwig or Louis Geiger, where he was (documents say he was born in Germany) born in Germany and the mother’s parents were from there as well. As for the the Clements, they were Irish and the Strukers were German.
So yeah he is basically 70% Irish and the rest is German, which is not really a surprise with the number of times he goes on about being Irish.
