I embrace being a Black-Puerto Rican and think we are plentiful and do exist! I am more “black” than people think… Since I don’t look like J-Lo, it’s hard for me to get the Puerto Rican/Latin role in a movie. I speak fluent Spanish, but get cast as being black long before they put me as the Latino.

Black people are not jealous…a lot of black people look like they could be models, but the media just doesnt show that.. How the hell do yall have black people color?? Ive come across a lot of ugly ass latinos women/men, yall have better features?? Latinos are not special, blacks, whites, asians, indians have good features too. I think hispanic people want to have kids by black people but want them to claim their hispanic side only.. She is not fully puerto rican, her face shows that..

Caucasian phenotype is what seem to be preferred down there. Those people have been brought up on a system where white is the best thing to be,so that how many of them think.Oh BTW she is full PR,black people have been a part of that mixture since it started, even if some wish to forget that.We have every facial feature on the planet, there is no fixed trait,I don’t think it ever has been

      • TiffanyLauren says:

Please shut up. She is not full PR. Im black! I know how black people look! You are clueless if you think anybody & everybody on earth has the same facial features. Your so stupid. Shut up. Juse because her parents were born in PR dont mean nothin. Thats just like saying Even though I’m black, my parents were born in america, so I can call myself white. Shes black & PR. No full latina looks like her. The only reason why she really doesnt get acussed of trying to be something shes not is because shes lightskinned. Get real, open your eyes.

You know there are certain things I thought I would never have to discuss with a black person,Us not all looking alike is one of them. You say your black, but that statement is something a white person would say. However to them,I give a little slack, because to them we actually do all look alike.Black people come with whats called Caucasian features,Asian features, and the famous Negroid, and everything in between. Now whether it from mixing or it’s just natural to them, they have them. Now if you don’t know this, then your the one who is truly clueless. Now I’m a black person also, but to me it sounds like you never left your own neighborhood.I’m just going to stack this lack of knowledge up to you being really young, and haven’t seen very much.
Now the other part of you comment, about American and being white was just silly. Also you saying no full latina looks like her, that again shows your lack of knowledge.Do you actually have any prove that her gggrandparents weren’t PR,I seriously doubt you do.Plus black have been in PR almost since it became PR,mixing. Now again if you don’t know that ,well again that shows your the one who’s clueless. Now if your going to comment back, come with some logic and save the profanity for your friends.

she is afro- puerto rican. there are mixed puerto ricans and black ones

  3. Liza says:

I thought she was FULL ON African American.
But then again, I’ve seen hispanics that look black, and some that look asian.

    It’s so weird..

  4. Jose says:

LOL I’m the same complexion as lala.. and Im100% Boricua… i dare someone to say I’m afro-latino or i’m black (nothing wrong with being Black though).. I’m just Puerto Rican, latino.. period. You can’t define a race by skin color, it’s ignorant! Just like i dare someone to call a Dominican Black, you might get punched in the face. Black people have their culture just like Ricans have theres… again, you can’t say a person is black just by their skin color. A African American that has been around Ricans or Dominicans will tell you the same more than likely.

You guys are part African, that part of you heritage helps to make you the latino that you are.I don’t know why you guys try to split it as if black wasn’t there from the beginning, which it was.Every group you mention has African heritage in it,and yet that seems to be the only part of the heritage you wish to deny. Now are you saying you have no black heritage, and you look just like lala? Now your right skin color doesn’t tell you everything, however when it comes to you african heritage it’s usually a pretty good sign. The funny thing is black is the only part of the heritage you guys will deny. The spanish and Native part you yell with pride, but not the black.I read in and article about people from PR,that you take pride in not having Negro hair.So for you to get on here and say what your saying,I don’t know who your hoping to fool.Btw I have been around them, and as you can see I’m still saying this,as I have said it to them.

STOP!!! Getting deep down & technical it is not needed we all know ethnicity’s are mixed to make one! But, you are what you are if you are 100% Puerto Rican than you are and nothing else!!!

        • fuzzybear says:

          To EcoFriendly

Well I wasn’t going to say anything anymore, but since you came at me.I would like to know what a 100% Puerto Rican looks like.Black,Asian,Taino,White or any combo;because all these were on that Island,Plus some others. Now I do agree, they are 100% Puerto Rican, but that’s just like saying 100% American, doesn’t really tell you much

          • EcoFriendly says:

Let Me Say This! Your mom and dad can be lighter skin & be 100% PR & you can be born dark skin. It is something called genetics she is 100% Puerto Rican if she said she is! why is it so important to you? you are not her just get over it!

          • fuzzybear says:

            To EcoFriendly

Well I don’t claim to know as much about genetics as I would like to,I have seen the results of it.See I also come from a mixed background, and I know all about parents looking one way,and kids looking that way.None of the kids looking alike etc.Now I don’t know where you see it in my comment, that I have a problem with her being Puerto Rican. Then you tell me to get over something I never had a problem with in the first place. If you had ever read some of my old comments, you would have seen that

      • hapakamoagurl says:

See the thing is,is that I don’t think people r trying to deny it if they have black heritage in them. But I can see why u would be sensitive to that subject because ur proud to be black and stuff, but by u telling or saying to other people that they have this or that or not this and that can make people angry or disagree with u,I mean u wouldn’t like it if someone told u u weren’t black,so I think its a pride thing with all of us(but at the end of the day who knows what we r,I think that for now we as people will just identify ourselves whatever it is we thnk we r),besides if PR is mix with BLK heritage then what is BLK mix with…is it just BLK,if so then why can’t PR be just PR or any other ethicity.

        • hapakamoagurl says:

What I mean by other ethicity is etc.

        • Fuzzybear says:

          To Hapa

Hello,Actually I have been told that.I’ve been told because of my background and the way I looked,I wouldn’t be seen as black. Now I disagree with them, but I’m not mad at them for saying it.I’ve found out in some place I would be seen as different, because of the way they see things.

Now what is blk mixed with, that actually a good question.Actually the first Africans were most likely brown(solid brown). Now as they move around Africa, some got darker, some got a little lighter. As Africans migrated out changing their DNA,Some migrated back, til Africa became a highway. So it is hard to say what black is,I do know it’s more than just color of skin. It’s a world wide cultural heritage, that only some will claim. However just because you don’t want to claim it,you shouldn’t get mad just because someone brings it up.Now I’m not saying PR can’t be just PRs.

    • TiffanyLauren says:

When people say she looks black, they dont just always talk about skin tone. She has a black persons facial features. If you take out the skin and look at a white & black persons facial features they dont look the same. So just because of skin tone, people are not going to say you look black unless you have features of a black person, cause even some indian people are dark brown but they dont really look black by their face.

    • LeBraun says:

Ok you do know African slaves went to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. 84% of the Dominican Republic has African ancestry. Jose Reyes, David Ortiz, Sammy Sosa, Alfonso Soriano, Pedro Martinez, Manny Ramirez, ect ect. Just like 40% of Puerto Rico has African ancestry. Carlos Delgado, Roberto Clemente, Carmelo Anthony, Juan Manuel Lopez, Don Omar, ect ect. It is common sense. Look up Negro Ladino or Black Ladino which means latinized African person. You are black but just celebrate the Latin culture which was brought from Southern Europe with Columbus just like African Americans celebrate Anglo American culture & contribute to it Hip Hop & R&B & Soul Jazz ect ect.
