Josh Hawley is an American lawyer and politician. A Republican, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Missouri, since January 3, 2019. He was also Attorney General of Missouri, from January 9, 2017 to January 3, 2019.

Josh was raised in Lexington, Missouri. He is married to associate professor of law, Erin Morrow, with whom he has three children.

Josh’s paternal grandfather was Norman V. Hawley (the son of Vernon Wesley Hawley and Edna May Clemison). Norman was born in Smith Center, Kansas. Josh’s great-grandfather Vernon was the son of Alcenius Kiplinger Hawley and Mary Ellen Shaffer. Edna was the daughter of William Arthur Clemison and Sara Effie McAlpin.

Josh’s paternal grandmother is Norva J. Amis (the daughter of Clarence Vernon Amis and Nellie Hazel Wilkerson). Norva was born in Kansas. Clarence was the son of William Bowlin Amis and Effie Ella McClaren. Nellie was the daughter of Jeptha Smith Wilkerson and Nellie Perry Stafford.

Josh’s maternal grandfather was Harold Robert Hammer (the son of Lars Pedersen Hammer and Ellen Catherine Nystrøm). Harold was born in Kansas. Lars was born in Melhus, Norway, the son of Peder Persson/Pedersen Hammer and Ingeborg Larsdatter Kvammen/Qvammen. Ellen was born in Scandia, Kansas, to Swedish parents, Gustaf Larsson Nyström and Maria Catherina Olsen.
