James Charles is an American makeup artist and YouTuber. He is known for his channel James Charles, which he began with uploading makeup tutorials. He has released an eyeshadow palette, created a makeup line with Morphe Cosmetics, was the first male ambassador for Covergirl, in 2016; and hosted, directed, and co-produced YouTube Originals reality competition series Instant Influencer, in 2020.

His brother, Ian Jeffrey, is a model.

James’ paternal grandfather was James Bernard Dickinson (the son of William Henry Dickinson and Catherine E. Halligan). James’ grandfather James was born in Troy, New York. William was born in New York, the son of John Dickinson, who was English, and of Emma Jane Johnson. Nathan was born in Jefferson, Schoharie, New York, the son of Frank Wilday Shalor, who was from Summit, Schoharie, and of Leita Greenwood Danforth.
