Gregg Araki is an American independent filmmaker and film director. He has directed the films Three Bewildered People in the Night, The Living End, The Long Weekend (O’ Despair), Totally F***ed Up, The Doom Generation, Nowhere, Splendor, Mysterious Skin, Smiley Face, Kaboom, and White Bird in a Blizzard.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, to second-generation Japanese-American parents. He was raised near Santa Barbara, California.

Gregg’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Noritake.
