Roscoe Arbuckle was an American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter. He was also billed as Fatty Arbuckle and William Goodrich.

He was the son of Mary (Gordon) and William Goodrich Arbuckle. He was married to actress Addie McPhail, until his death. His nephew, sister’s son, was motion-picture comedian Al St. John.

Roscoe’s paternal grandfather was William Harrison Arbuckle (the son of John Arbuckle and Sarah C. “Sally” Jones). William was born in Indiana. John was the son of James J. Arbuckle, Jr., whose father was born in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland, and of Mary Powell.

Roscoe’s paternal grandmother was Mary Ann Farrar (the daughter of William Goodrich Farrar and Hannah Sweet). Mary Ann was born in Indiana. William was the son of John Farrar III and Hannah Burns. Roscoe’s great-grandmother Hannah was the daughter of Abraham Sweet and Thankful Brand.
