Natalie Coughlin is an American competition swimmer and twelve-time Olympic medalist. She represented the US in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic games. She is nicknamed “Nat.”

Natalie is married to swim coach Ethan Hall, with whom she has a daughter. Her full name is Natalie Anne Coughlin Hall.

She has said:

I’m a quarter-Filipino… Yes, I grew up eating a lot of Filipino food. My family blends Filipino food and American food at all of our gatherings. Halo-halo is one of my favorite treats. And I’m sure everyone says this, but my grandma’s Chicken Adobo is by far the best I have ever tasted… My family is from Cavite… Although my family speaks Tagalog amongst themselves, I was never taught. I am using a computer program called Rosetta Stone that is helping me learn Tagalog… maybe now I’ll know what my family is saying about me!

Natalie’s maternal grandfather was Charles Edward “Chuck” Bohn, Jr. (the son of Charles Edward Bohn and Mary McFadden). Natalie’s grandfather Charles was born in California. Natalie’s great-grandfather Charles was the son of Henry William Bohn and Pearl Buster. Mary was born in Glen, Creeslough, Donegal, Ireland, and was the daughter of Mandy McFadden and a woman whose surname was Boyce.

Natalie’s maternal grandmother was named Zenaida “Zennie” Aguillon. Zenaida was born in Meycauayan, Bulacan, Philippines.
