Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military and political leader. He was of entirely Italian descent [Corsican]. Under the name Napoleon I, he was Emperor of the French, from 18 May, 1804 to 6 April, 1814, and again from 20 March, 1815 to 22 June, 1815. He was also King of Italy, from 17 March, 1805 to 11 April, 1814, and Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine, from 12 July, 1806 to 19 October, 1813.
Napoleon was the son of Maria Letizia (Ramolino) and Carlo Maria Buonaparte, who was a lawyer and politician. He was married to Austrian archduchess Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, until his death, with whom he had a son. His brother was lawyer and diplomat Joseph Bonaparte, who was King of Naples and Sicily, from 30 March, 1806 to 6 June, 1808, as Giuseppe I; and King of Spain and the Indies, from 6 June, 1808 to 11 December, 1813, as José I.
Napoleon’s great-great-great-great-nephew was American actor and singer René Auberjonois, who was descended from Napoleon’s sister Caroline.
Napoleon’s paternal grandfather was Giuseppe Maria Buonaparte (the son of Sebastiano Nicola/Niccolo Buonaparte/Bonaparte and Maria Anna Tusoli/Tusilo de Bocagnano). Giuseppe was born in Ajaccio, and was a Corsican politician. Sebastiano was the son of Giuseppe Maria Buonaparte and Maria da Bozzi. Napoleon’s great-grandmother Maria Anna was the daughter of Carlo Tusoli and Isabella.
Napoleon’s paternal grandmother was Maria Saveria Paravicini (the daughter of Giuseppe Maria Paravicini/Paravisini and Anna Maria Angela Salineri). Napoleon’s grandmother Maria Saveria was born in Ajaccio. Giuseppe was born in Genoa, Liguria, the son of Gaetano Paravisini and Giuseppina Rossi. Anna was the daughter of Angelo Agostino Salineri and Francetta Merezano.
Napoleon’s maternal grandfather was Giovanni Geronimo Ramolino (the son of Giovanni Agostino Ramolino and Angela Maria Peri). Napoleon’s grandfather Giovanni was born in Ajaccio, and was Captain of Corse Regiments of Chivalry and Infantry in the Army of the Republic of Genoa. Napoleon’s great-grandfather Giovanni was the son of Giovanni Girolamo Ramolino and Maria Letizia Boggiani. Angela was the daughter of Andrea Peri and Maria Maddalena Colonna d’Istria.
Napoleon’s maternal grandmother was Angèle-Marie/Maria Pietrasanta/Pietra-Santa (the daughter of Giuseppe Maria Pietrasanta and Maria Giuseppa Malerba). Giuseppe was the son of Giovanni Antonio Pietrasanta and Paola Brigida Sorba.

Could Corsicans be considered their own ethnicity like Sardinians, being isolated from the rest of Italy?
No, because they have more affinity with Tuscans and Ligurians from mainland Italy.
It is interesting; I have seen studies that show that native Corsicans have a stronger genetic affinity to Northern and Central Italians than they do Sardinians. Perhaps, Sardinia was settled from the south.
On a very sunny day, you can see Corsica’s tip from Tuscany. It’s not so isolated.
